WAYS TO PREVENT LIGHT POLLUTION
It is important to spread awareness of this issue to encourage more people further. This could lead to a domino effect here in the future; light pollution is minimised, the skies are clear, and the wildlife are safe.
-
Turn Off Your Lights
This does not mean turning off all the lights as soon as it gets dark; rather, only use lights when needed. Doing this will also save money on energy and therefore reduce energy wastage. Light pollution can also be minimised by closing the blinds when the lights are on to prevent light from seeping outside.
-
Point Your Lights Downward
When outside, point your lights towards the ground rather than the sky. This stops a lot of the light from seeping into the atmosphere and prevents light pollution.
-
Dim Your Lights
You can switch to night mode on your devices and turn down the brightness—or even shut everything off to get ready for bed.

Spread Awareness
This is an issue that is not talked about often enough. To make a bigger impact, we need to reform how many of our structures function—meaning streetlights need to face downwards and billboards need to be dimmed (not off because of planes and flying objects that may be passing by at night).
